Behind the Game: Kenneth Fernandes

When did you first fall in love with the game?

Since my school days when I used to play with my friends with a small rubber ball on the basketball court at Loyola High School. It progressed from there to playing for the school team, then college team. My love for the game and sport, in general, pushed me to pursue and complete my Masters in Sports Business Management in England and I feel blessed to have been able to combine my passion with my career.

What is your favorite thing about being involved in football?

A number of things bring me joy about being involved in football but my favorite thing would have to be witnessing the enthusiasm, energy, and joy in the faces of all the young boys and girls for just being able to play, especially in competitive games. This motivates me to give my best.

What are your other hobbies/interests?

I love traveling with my wife and exploring places of natural beauty around the world, listening to music, playing the guitar, watching movies.

Which football team do you support and why?

FC Barcelona. I love the style of play, the history of the club and because every week you get to watch Lionel Messi, who is arguably the greatest football player of all time play in competitive matches.

If you had the chance to watch one football game live, which one would it be?

Wow…thats a tough one…maybe El Classico or a World Cup Final or a Champions League Final. Considering the actual chance of getting a ticket for any one of those matches, anyone one would do.

Which players would you pick in your 5-aside team?

Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (Brazilian), Buffon. I would be a substitute or managing the team.
