Behind the Game – Inacio
In conversation with Inacio, Grassroots coach and who firmly believes that sports helps make better citizens.
What do you like the most about coaching?
I’m extremely passionate about the game. I sleep, eat, and breathe football. And coaching allows me to make this passion into a career.
What do you focus on teaching the kids?
I want my kids to be good people first and then good footballers. I strongly believe that by playing a team sport like football, kids learn to become more empathetic people. I want them to enjoy the game but also have a responsibility towards society.
Who was your role model/inspiration?
I loved Maradona as a player, he was the one who got me to love football. Though he did not make such a big mark as a coach, he still remains my inspiration.
What are your other hobbies/passions?
I love being outdoors and fishing.
Which Indian footballer would you have liked to coach?
I love attacking players, players who want to run at opposition defences. If I had to choose just one player, I would choose Romeo as I like his style.
